Melanie Hill made her plea to fellow Mancunians yesterday, in the hope that they will join and help her to raise a staggering £5k in the name of Christie.
The local student and chosen Inspiration Fundraiser for the cancer hospital, South Manchester, aims to build these funds in appreciation of the tremendous work which was given to her father; who suffered a rare and incurable form of cancer.
“My dad was diagnosed with a cancer called Myeloma” “The work and support The Christie provided for my family was unbelievable and this is my way of giving back to every doctor, nurse, nurse’s assistant, phlebotomist, cleaner, canteen worker for how brilliant they really are.”
The 21 year old has given herself until the end of the year to raise the money and is programmed for an abseil down the North Stand at the Manchester United football stadium, Old Trafford.
Although nervous, Hill said she is honoured to have been chosen as an inspirational story and is looking forward to helping the UK’s largest specialised hospital like they helped her.
The abseil event is set to take place on the 24th of Feb – more information is available on: http://www.christie.nhs.uk/the-christie-charity/whats-on/sporting-events/uk-challenges/manchester-united-abseil.aspx
